i have been running my laptop on power saver for quite some time, (hp pavilion entertainment series) it is one of the earliest models, and then i decided to change to performance mode (while playing diablo 2)

now my laptop screen will randomly turn completely black which will require me to manually turn my laptop off, and then when i try to turn it back on, sometimes it loads up then shuts down immediately. Also it happens more frequently when i am playing d2 aswell as my fan seems to constantly be on no matter how low my cpu or even if my computer isnt running anything.

can anyone help me with this problem?

sounds like an overheating issue, try downloading core temp. it should sit at around 60-70 degrees at load, this will vary from laptop to laptop but it should never exceed 80 degrees

Do not worry about your difficulties in Mathematics. I can assure you mine are still greater.

My guess is that it's overheating. When it goes black does it force a restart or do you have to always manually restart it? I was having this sort of issue but found out that my video card was faulty, I would be doing simple tasks and it would freeze for 3 seconds go black and then give me a message that I had a driver error and it successfully restarted. Other times it would restart on it's own. Try getting one of those labtop fans before you spend money on a new pc.
