Ok... I bought a Sony 7.1 Receiver and a Yamaha 5 pc. surround sound speaker set. I use it for my dorm room up at college. At some point, not long into its life, the receiver went into "Protect Mode" which would flash as soon as i turned it on, blink a couple times, then turn itself off. I opened it up and had an electrician friend look at it, and he said that some components inside the receiver had been fried.
I just got the company I bought the recieiver from to replace it, and I'm about to hook up the new one. I'm trying to find out what the problem could be so that I can fix it and not lose another receiver. I do turn the system up pretty loud for parties and stuff that happen in my room, but never to completely max I dont think. Is there some kind of compativility issue that I'm unaware of, like between the speakers and receiver (ohms, amps, etc)?? Or should I simply try to not crank it?? After what they cost, I had expected them to be able to put out some sound.
Thanks for any help
