i have a budget of about 1-1.2 thousand to spend, and i have no idea what i should get. i hear from some people to get a dell, and from others that dells suck. i hear from others to get sony vaio, and then i hear that those always crash. also, should i get it with the new windows 7? or with XP. please post up any ideas/your opinions.

But... laptop or desktop? Dells suck, and my VAIO has NEVER crashed. It we are talking desktop's, build your own, it's not too hard to learn.
