anyone read about this yet?

i came across an article in the globe and mail, and it's very interesting, and could change the lives of the millions of people that suffer from multiple sclerosis

very brief intro...

it's long been thought that MS was an auto-immune disease (meaning that the body's immune system mistakes itself for an invader, and attacks it); however, an Italian scientist has new research that could prove previous thoughts about MS false...

if this interests you, please post your thoughts/comments about this, as it seems very promising.

not that I am aware of, as AIDS isn't an auto-immune disorder, it's just results in a severely weakened immune system.

This is very interesting, I'm sure many medical textbooks will undergo some kind of revision in their next editions :) . What is interesting is that scientists believe that Schizophrenia is caused by similar vascular issues in brain angiology, the latest research talks about how Schizophrenic veins and arteries in the brain actually have restrictive flow similar to imagining a traffic jam on a 1 lane highway.

yeah when I heard about this I was shocked.. I'm a pharmacy student and this has the whole faculty buzzing

and yes, the fact that this has the potential to be applied to many other conditions is very promising

this could be one of the biggest medical discoveries of our generation.. so everyone should take the time to read into this!

I'm sure that research of this kind of vascular nature will also find its way into Parkinson's disease, you are right this is a major breakthrough.
