any transplantation causes the body to reject the cells unless the immune system is repressed (unless the tissue is accepted because all the markers etc are not considered foreign to the immune system)

They've made pacemakers and so forth, but this requires electrical stimulation at a certain (extremely precise) rhythm.

If tissues were grown of the persons own cells then the body would not reject them. I read somewhere where they were designing ways of constructing artificial hearts by reconstructing or mimicking the natural configuration of the heart using cultured tissues (similar to those used for burn victims). The thing is there are multiple types of muscle tissue with different properties, so i would assume that the original collection for the culture would have to come from the heart to be of the proper type. Not to mention the fact that the neurons have to re-grow in order to connect the tissue to the brain.

If you get a cut or scrape on your hands or knees, how do the neurons reconnect the outermost skin?

well nevermind feelings, robots really don't even tend to have organs in their chests that pumps blood. (if they have chests; you can even consider a wristwatch a robot, can't you?)

And lest we forget, thinking of a robotic heart is like thinking of half of a hole. It itself is a robot, as half a hole would simply be a smaller hole.

Just don't get too literal with the words xD
