Ok so long story short, i can't get ventrilo to work on this computer but my old computer it still works, i have a cable modem for my internet connection and im wondering if i can connect a wire from my modem into my old PC and use that simply for ventrilo purposes while still on my main PC playing WoW. Both computers are in the same room. I do not have a wireless router and im hoping there's wired router cord or something to connect internet with both computers from 1 modem. sry if i sound confusing, any help will be greatly appreciated !

well, if you dont have a router, you could use one comp as a server if its running say, xp pro, but you need an extra NIC...do you have this? if so, you can install the extra nic into the old computer, hook the old comp up to the modem, the new comp up to the old one, umbilical style, and set up network connections, it should see the path through the first comp, and then just try to read and follow instructions...hope this was helpful.

your modem should have USB and ethernet interfaces, try connecting one comp to USB and the other to ethernet, see if that works
