This is stupid. He clearly has no idea what he's talking about if he can't pronounce half the words in the article. Yes, a rare side effect to some anti-anxiety and anti-depression drugs can lead to suicides, but their success rates in treating anxiety and depression disorders outweighs that risk for many. This is just another attempt to push marijuana reform, which I believe should occur, however it is going about it entirely the wrong way. I can use the same sort of logic. Marijuana leads to the munchies, eating junk food makes a person obese. Marijuana causes obesity.
Marijuana isn't a perfect 100% flawless drug. It's been shown to contribute to respiratory disease and use in adolescents increases the risk of psychiatric disturbances in adulthood (Henquet et al., 2005). It's fun, it should be legalized, but it isn't a wonder drug without risks.
Seriously though, psychiatric medicines are used to treat various mood disorders, and most psychiatrists wouldn't prescribe them unless the benefits outweighed the risk. Would a person with a severe health condition refuse surgery because theres a small chance of an error that could lead to death?
I don't eat junk food, I am very health conscious.
It really has nothing to do with cannabis but all he says is that it
does have medicinal use and it is no more harmful than alcohol and tobacco is. Prohibition harms more than it ever will.
Cannabis is not a drug, it is a herb; it is my anti-drug. There has been no evidence showing that it contributes to respiratory disease. In fact it has been known to even stop full blown asthma attacks with asthmatics since the THC dilates airways. I actually use it for my anxiety which helps a lot and I use it responsibly, nothing is good when abused. People are starting to realize the benefits that the plant has as its been used for thousands of years and because of yellow journalism it stirred everything up with the truth.
I'm kind of off of the main topic but I just felt that I needed to clear that up. It is only a small scratch in the surface, I think you should look more into the scientific research.
