His name is Max.

Approximately 5" in diameter, and expected to grow to around 8-10" in diameter.

He is still barbed (still has his stinger, but for defense only).

Non venemous.

that's really cool i didn't know there were freshwater stingrays. i recently just got into aquariums, got mine mid december so it has only recently finished cycling. it's freshwater as well, right now i have 7 cichlids and a bushynose pleco, all about 1.5 - 2 inches. i think i might have gone overboard seeing as it's only a 29 gallon tank but oh well. i have an outdoor pond with predominately koi/goldfish that i've had running since june so as it moves into spring/summer and gets warmer i figure i can transfer some into there.

I have him in a 20 gallon tank with 2x Black Moors, a 6" Sucker Fish (Forgot the acctual name), and a pink kissing fish.

I've just started my grandson on fresh water aquariums and was considering salt, but this looks interesting what do they eat, how hard to keep ect...Tracking this so please reply.

The stingray that killed steve was not poisonous, he died because it stabbed him in the heart
