I hadn't heard of this before today, but it's an interesting read.

Yea sorry I just forgot to respond to it, actually this is really interesting, my main question is whether it was the nitrogen fixing bacteria on it that did it or the fern itself -- because it says those things still exist today (well I guess plants from the same family or genus or w/e?). I've never heard of the Azolla Event, ever...also that would probably mean that A LOT of fossils could be beneath the arctic ocean / Antarctic wasteland. Wonder why no one else has looked into this, its a pretty big claim.

Very true.

I also think that the research on this supports current global warming theory. But it also says to me that a warmer planet isn't necessarily anything to be afraid of, excepting the fact that accelerated environmental pollutants might not allow time for evolution to take its course.

warm weather or not i'm pretty sure we're going to find some way to destroy this planet lol. Warming itself isn't scary, but that does increase intense weather like tropical storms and scientists (okay some) are saying the water levels are rising a little too fast. Evolution needs much more time to adapt than what people predict...any how, I still don't see why people bicker over global warming, we'll find out soon enough :\
