So basicly i've been doing some research i wanted to share. The case is much worse than i thought in the beginning.
This will be written fast since there's a lot of stuff to come around. So forgive me for my typo's. I don't know all the correct terms in english either. first post here so threat me nice wink.gif
Some of this is 2007-2008 numbers and such. smile.gif

-2.1 Greenhouse effect
-2.2 Theories
-2.3 possible solutions.
-2.4 consequences

First of all: What is the greenhouse effect?
----------
Our earth receives its heat through sun rays. After receiving it glows with heat and sents back infrared light to create balance in the system. But the exception is just that the greenhouse gasses Carbon dioxide, Methan & watersteam. Catches some of the infrared light and keeps the heat at earth. So the gasses works like the glass in a greenhouse, lets the sunlight through but contain the heat. This is actually not a bad thing, without this ability, the temperature on earth would be minus 15 degrees. The problem is when we burn tons of oil, gasolin etc.

The alternative theories, how can we be sure what it is ?

first of all there have been graphs showing that the amount of greenhouse gasses have increased extremely in the last 40 years.

There are 4 theories including the greenhouse effect:

1. Some people believe that the sun have got an outbreak which increases the amount of sunlight. Also if the sun is more active, will it's magnetic field naturally increase in power. This will cause that less cosmic beams will reach earth. A group of cosmic rays is able to perform a cloud drop. And since clouds are able to reflect sunlight back without receiving heat, this will cause in higher temperatures. Some testings were made by IPCC (UN international Climate panel) and it showed that the amount of cosmic rays wasn't decreased.

2. Other things than clouds and smooth surfaces can reflect the sun rays, its called aerosols and its a group of particles, like dirt, sand & soot (from volcanos). A logical explanition could be less volcano outbreaks, as they're acctually able to lower the temperature significantly. In 1991 there was an outbreak at the Phillipines, ashes and soot was thrown 30 kilometres up in the air out of our wetter system, so it wasn't able to rain back. In the next 18 months the temperature lowered with 0,5 degree in average. Again according to IPCC no changes in this area.

3. This is a tricky one so i wont go deep; Its called Milankovitj cycle, its an unregularity in Earths rotation around the sun, it can either get us into a very hot period or an ice age. It's very rare only appears like every 100.000 years if im right. As well as the others IPCC did some research which make the chances even smaller for this to happen.
----------
Solutions?

Well if we pick the most likely theory /Greenhouse effect- then it will be hard to reverse... Imo i think we allready have good enough technology to make a revolution with renewable energi, i just think its about money.. Money, money, money, its always money. People dont wanna put their economy at stake "just" to save the world if there aren't any profit to make.
But anyway atm they're developmenting a new capsule, which will buy us more time the CCS (Carbon capture & storage). Capsule which we're able to capture gasses in and bury them before they get to our atmosphere. They think they will be rdy for the first attempts with the CCS in 5 approximately 10 years. Scientists are guessing these capsules will be able to lower our release of gases with 80-90 Percents. But some fears that this might make us forget about the crisis and make us burn just as much Fossil fuels as before.
----------
Here is the scary part i've picked what i find most extreme

We end up overheating the earth. Since 1970 the average temperature has raised with 0,75 degree, and if we "act" that all releases of these gasses would stop for some time then would the amount of degrees hit a total rise of 1,4 degree, because some of the gas haven't been abosorbed by the atmosphere yet.

- After a raise of 2 degrees

IPCC have estimated that about 0,4 -1,7 billion people will die of more extreme weather.

When we have raised the average temperature with 3-4 degrees then its going to get real bad.

-The earths ecosystem will change and Instead of absorbing Carbon dioxide become a net source to Carbon and therefore hurry the heating process.

-A lot of animal spicies will die i think it's atleast 50 %.

-almost all coral reef will die.

-Most of the Greenland ice will be gone, and the seas will slowly rise, after some hundred years will it rise with about 12 meters.

This is not good folks!! sad.gif

----------
Tried to make a short overview, no poll since i want your oppinions. Let me know your oppinions! biggrin.gif

I will read though this late but sorry if this spam but I myself think Global Warming is one of Earths Cycles that it always does, but read this post a made awhile ago about the Earth cooling not freezing.

I don't think it's a man-made problem, at least not entirely.
We could probably slow the effects, but, in the long run, it is inevitable.

its unfortunate, but as mr bear said above..it is inevitable

ehh... the science isnt really with you on that... at all, though it is generally referred to as climate change now since there could be cooling effects in some areas as well.

However, I think that energy use, pollution issues, etc are also a symptom of the real problem: overpopulation.

Earth is NOT capable of supporting 10 billion humans who want to use fossil fuels and eat beef (yes i like a good steak as much as the next person, but it really is inefficient). Even if everyone lived in as environmentally friendly way as possible, there are still just too many of us, and we just keep having more babies to make it worse.

interesting i had a theory myself that we would have an ice age soon but i had no scientific knowledge back-up.

i think there are some kind of cycle going on but atm i think we're the ones heating up the system. If this is our fault i find it kind of ironic. We're supposed to be the smartest race, but we're also the ones destroying the planet sad.gif

Btw: When the dinosaurs died scientists believe that a meteor struck earth, not only the struck extincted the dinosaurs. there would be big amounts of sulfur dropping to the sea and made the water more acid. Scientists believe that only a small population of corals survived this.

The Sea absorb about 50 % of the gases we release, its really good at neutralizing these gases. But atm its going to fast it cant keep up.

Atm Sea have got 0,1 unit more acid, the acid ions in the sea have increased with about 30 %

Not really a theory then, is it?

you don't need knowledge to make a theory. the chances that your wrong will just increase. It was more like a random thought i told a friend than a theory

Theres Science to back it up in the bibliography in the back of the book I got it out off.

Overpopulation is a topic in said book also.

I don't think "global warming" is the cause of man, or any animal for that matter.
I don't remember where I read this, but I'm pretty sure water vapor counts for 70% of greenhouse gases. We obviously cannot control the amount of water vapor in the air, and that amount is always fluctuating.
Recent studies have shown that CO2 is increased by temperature, not the other way around (so millions of Americans think). As temperature rises, Carbon Dioxide levels increase.
