The chronophage still boggles me a bit. The hadron collider is interesting because it's really designed for investigation of sub-atmoic particles, and the carrying capacity discussion is a nice example of a topic that has some imaginative replies, and which really splits based on what people mean by 'carrying capacity'. For instance, I believe we're already WAY over our carrying capacity if we want to live sustainably; however, we could certainly cram more people into the world [I pay a lot of attention to what people mean when they use certain words, because it helps explain why people disagree.].
