Hi! I've been slowly discovering fishing and camping. Been fun, wish I had more time and energy to put into it. Do you guys camp/go fishing? What motivates you guys to solo camp and how was the first solo trip?

Any tips about fishing/camping, gear and whatnot is welcome!

were i live we have salmon runs i used to do what is called drift fishing. about 6 - 12 foot leader with a bead and hook on the end. use enough weight to find the level the fish were at. it was obvious to me it was legalized snagging :)

lost interest in camping when i valued a hot shower in the morning more. lost the drive to fish when i got older and health problems. was pretty addictive at one time though. something about setting the hook on timing and the pole bends, the anticipation is it a fish or a snag. find out in a moment :)

not sure where you are, but Algonquin Park is top notch for back country sites. i camp with and without friends, and always have my fishing rod for days we dont travel much. canoe camping ftw.
i like to solo camp for peace and quiet. normally 4-5 days max. with groups, ive done some 10 day trips.

You should check kayak relief campsites. Used to drive to North Shore then hike past the no camping signs to the beach campsites (suppose to be for kayaks, almost always vacant). Always had a great spot away from tourists, parks, or actual hiking campsites that get crowded.

I can't go fishing because it's not safe.
