ok so I was shocked so I called my friend - a nutritionist and she is so afraid of a lawsuit that she won't comment and just recommends that you eat whole food (nothing processed) and then I called Kellogg and they refused to tell me how they get the ingredients for their "fortification" and just said it was from "ions". I did some research and found that some think this process is toxic and some countries have banned it and that it's very easy to overdose on certain nutrients (especially iron) and deaths have been recorded in children. I guess it's something you just need to be aware of, just add it to the list of stuff that might kill you.

Are you talking about the cereal? yeah excess iron in your blood can kill you and 1 cup of fortified cereal can provide 50% of daily iron - add a multivitamin and some meat and it's pretty easy to have too much iron especially if you have a pre existing condition like Hemochromatosis.

What Is Hemochromatosis?

Hemochromatosis is a condition that causes the body to absorb and store too much iron. Some iron is essential for carrying oxygen in the blood to organs and tissues, but too much is toxic. Hemochromatosis is a common cause of iron overload. Excess iron builds up in organs such as the heart, liver, joints, pancreas, and pituitary gland. If untreated, this can cause organ damage, and lead to heart attack, diabetes, cirrhosis of the liver, arthritis, depression, and premature death. The mutated gene for hemochromatosis can be passed on to offspring

Who Is at Greatest Risk for Hemochromatosis?
People who have a relative with hemochromatosis, especially a sibling, are at highest risk. People of Irish, Scottish, and Northern European descent are also at increased risk. The disorder develops most often in older men; however, it also occurs in women, especially in the postmenopausal period.
Many people with hemochromatosis have no symptoms. When symptoms do occur, they include the following:
Chronic fatigue—the most common symptom
Joint pain/arthritis
Loss of sex drive
Abdominal pain
Depression
Change in skin color, such as jaundice, reddish, or gray-olive

Just wanted to add the fact that the amount of iron absorbed into your body is based on someone who is extremely "regular" and it's estimated that nearly 1 million Americans absorb more than 4x that amount.
Good Job News telling us the facts. I needn't worry about the metal from a terrorist's gun when I can just kill myself by buying a loaf of bread with "enriched" flour.
