I spent 20mins writting something but decided not to post it. There is just to much wrong with the world to fix it.
A very simple thing that would make the world a much much better place would be to just ban alcohol and all drugs except for medical use.

If people are not going to be getting something for their hard work, they simply will not do it. Not everyone is like Nikola Tesla striving to just better the human race and the world, most of the population are lazy and only do something if they something in return. Look at Edison he was a money hungry prick and so was everyone who helped him, Nikola Tesla was 100x more brilliant than Edison but no-one even knows who Tesla is.
