It might not "end" but we could get pretty fucked up. 2012 is the expected year for the Solar Maximum, which means more powerful solar flares. A strong enough solar flare would zap all the electronics, GPS, satelittes, etc. The last one in 1958 produced Northern Lights in Mexico.

The only thing that I think might happen .. is since the world is so "tensed up"

People might think some other country did it .. and with communication down .. they would launch a blind nuclear bomb (No gps, thus why I say blind) and we'll have our WW III accidentally.

A country isn't going to fire a nuclear missile blindly, even the most radical countries with nuclear capabilities are going to make sure they hit their target if they decide to launch.

North Korea?

but the nuclear war because of emp idea is fundamentally flawed. if all the communications and electronics are down because of EMP.......you can't even launch a missile.

the sun "cycles" every 11 years, meaning there is a high to low point in solar activity spanning 11 years. i believe the most recent cycle started about a year or two ago.
no the mayan calendar didnt predict 9/11, no the end of the world is not coming on the solstice of 2012. the mayans simple figured out the date the earth moon and center of the galaxy would align, and counted backwards 13 thousand years, and began their calendar. meaning when it finally came time for the earth moon and galaxy to align, their calendar would "end". its like counting to 100. they figured out what day something would happen, and started at number one. now that its finally time that theyve figuratively reached 100 so their calender is going to "end"

they didnt "just so happen" to end it at 2012, they astronomically observed and mathematically calculated a VERY special day in the history of our planet

Pretty much noone in this topic believes the world will end in 2012. Anyone who did say they agree was probably joking. So my question, wtf are you QQ'ing about?

a solar max happens every decade, as i explained in a previous post. its coincidence a rise in solar activity will occur in the upcoming 5 years

They Mayans just chose that date to end their calendar...they were already 3000 years ahead of their time for dates etc. so why not just end it when they did?

No I don't believe it. And no i don't believe in santa claus or allah for that matter.

And I would be greatly surprised if people who can barely put a roof over there head should predict this.

This is all prepousperous of course, the mayan calander "resets" its days and months, just like ours does today.
All that happens is the calander goes back to the "beginning" of their cylcle, and starts over.
And if the Mayans were so great at predicting the future, how come they didn't predict their own extinction?
Grow up people, its just another dooms day scenario like Nostrodamus and the silly quatrains that can be twisted and misconstrued to sound like anything people want them to sound like..
They predicted the end from his great prophecies back in the 80's as 1999, well guess what, it didn't happen either.
