I got no problems with immortality. Hopefully I make enough money one day to do this shit if it really accelerates fast enough.

agreed @ this.

what would this mean for reproduction... in a long enough time span, human beings would have nowhere on earth to inhabit... this could also push forward space exploration if for no other reason to find more places a human can live...

Found this neat article a moment ago. A few months old, but I did not see it posted here.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/science-news/6217676/Immortality-only-20-years-away-says-scientist.html

It certainly sparked my interest, but does it seem even remotely plausible?

What do you think, JSP?

Personally, I'm for immortality. I'm sure many religious freaks will think scientists are only trying to "play God," though.

even though you should never lol at visionary because it might hit right back in the face someday, i dont see how this could benefit the human race in a long run. if you could never die how many years would it take to litterally fill up the hole world? and a other problem is where would they get all these new organs from? would poor people sell them to help out their families etc or would the produce them?

If this happens...I don't even know what to say..astonishing is a good word. I don't see it happening in our lifetime though.

Nanobots if they are controlled by something other than preprogrammed then there is chance for hacking, if preprogrammed their is chance for them to do what they werent designed for. This also presents the idea of rogue technology, there will have to be a serious amount of discussion before any of this should be let lose on the world.
