How do you measure animals state of happiness?

Well, at the moment most well established zoos are using the following criteria:

Dead: Unhappy.
Alive: Relatively happy.

Dead is what a lot of the species would be without conservation programs.

you honestly have no idea what you're talking about.

if people like you had their way and MAN eventually pushing animals out of their natural habitat would cause extinction and what would we do to insure the survival of the species ?????

you honestly don't think in depth about things before laying your fingers on the keyboard .

obviously you have no idea what you're talking about.
extinction is a natural part of existence. It's going to happen whether we zoo animals or not. \
there are things in this world that no one can control or prevent.
imo man kind should stop trying to interfere with so much shit they know nothing about.

i agree with the above statement.
think about it the other way around. what if you were drafted and got put out in a barrack thousands of miles away.
lets pretend like your not in any danger, you just have to chill.. eat the equivalent of dog food, and wait.

personally id rather take a bullet to the face than I had live that like of life.

on a side note.. i love the zoo. i go to 2 or 3 pretty much every summer.

imo zoos should only house animals that cant and never will be able to go back to the wild. otherwise unethical.

Given enough time and natural occurences. Man influenced extinction is something entirely different, and it by all means disturbs ecosystems and natural balance, something we rely on as a species.

And other things we caused. Ever seen a live thylacine? Too bad we wiped them out.

Maybe you could ask a bison how they feel about extinction. We came pretty close to that too.

By that logic, you should be rooting for conservation programs in zoos.

If they gave the animals more room maybe ethical, but last time I went some smaller animals were in very small spaces for the size they were.
