think about you, YOU yourself aren't actually going forward or backward. (in this case going back in time doesn't work but forward surely is a possiblilty). If the Earth itself is going forward in time but YOU are going at a slower pace than the Earth is, you'd be a man from the past on a planet in the future. Question is this: what if the human race is almost entirely lost to a vast plague or illness... WTF will u do then?!

truly, you are either speeding yourself up or slowing down. in theory you are experiencing time dilation, your process of aging may slow as you travel at high speed in the direction of the earths orbit. while your perception of time would change, earth time would pass as usual. likewise if you traveled at a high speed in the opposite direction of earths orbit, time would pass more quickly for you, but would remain the same on earth
