This is physically impossible.

Wrong. All you would need is the technology to be able to pump blood through your brain. You wouldn't even need a real heart, just an artificial one. However, this seems like a bit of a stretch for only 20 years away. I would guess 100+ years but I don't really know with the way technology increasingly advances.

I think we might beable to have better technology that lets you stay under water longer without such high risks, and other stuff like this. But immortality? Lol. Don't you see that 40years ago people thought we would all be using flying cars by now and living on other planets, it is all false hopes. People tend to be dying earlier on than they did in previous years because of the lifestyles we lead.

?....What about better nutrition, availability of health care, and standard of living and bio-medical scientific advances. The average life expectancy has gone nothing but upwards.

I hear of people in their 40-60's dying everyday of heart attacks and other problems like that, I'd say it has gone down =[ We have better medical care and stuff like what you said, but it doesn't mean much when people are eating so much fast food, drinking to much alcohol, smoking, unfit etc not to mention that the doctors/nurses all have to know what they are doing. You still here of people dying everyday from some problem in a hospital where they weren't given the correct treatment, an example I saw recently a woman died a day after giving birth simply because the people taking care of her in the hospital didn't give her some needle or something afterwards. Another example last year a woman I think in NY died in a hospital waiting room because no-one would help her, she was on the floor for like an hour before anyone even came to check on her.I know we have gone forward technology and medical wise, but humans are flawed in so many ways..

From a song:
Quote
Do you know what the number one health risk in America is?
Obesity. They say we're in the middle of an obesity epidemic.
An epidemic like it is polio. Like we'll be telling our grand kids about it one day.
The Great Obesity Epidemic of 2004.
"How'd you get through it grandpa?"
"Oh, it was horrible Johnny, there was cheesecake and pork chops everywhere."

Nobody knows why were getting fatter? Look at our lifestyle.
I'll sit at a drive thru.
I'll sit there behind fifteen other cars instead of getting up to make the eight foot walk to the totally empty counter.
Everything is mega meal, super sized. Want biggie fries, super sized, want to go large.
You want to have thirty burgers for a nickel you fat mother fucker. There's room in the back. Take it!
Want a 55 gallon drum of Coke with that? It's only three more cents.

immortality should be used loosely. I believe that we can conjure up ways to prevent causes of death rather than live forever. metaphorically speaking, living in a bubble.

we have enough nuclear weapons to completely annihilate all life on the planet by high masses of radiation, im talking every little spec of life from the biggest to the very smallest of life forms on the planet

we need to deal with that issue before we move on to immortality

personally I think immortality will never be achieved within the next 200-500 years lol
but 20 years from immortality is pushing it ..
