granted this is very true, but with modern technology the way it is....think about it. what DO they contribute? the most i can suggest is the odd one that becomes an instructor of some kind, and the majority that take up the small, albeit much needed oddjobs in our society. Really, what we should do is have preteens/teens doing these jobs, preparing them for the working world. perhaps integrate this into school somehow, as a job skills course or something.
Agreed.
A lot of teens are coming out of high school thinking life will be a breeze.
However, FEW if not ANY realize the full of extent of living YOUR life is...
3 of my own cousins have had to move back home and switch colleges because they could not handle the expenses..
They did not save up while they could..they did not have any jobs during high school.
In short, they were completely and utterly unprepared for the harshness of the outside world once outside of the basic schooling bubble.
/e: Just a random thing.
What about that Ice Hotel somewhere in Alaska?
If people can survive living in ICE, and actually pay to stay there...why don't more people populate the colder regions?
Other than bitter cold in winter, most arctic places do have B-e-a-u-tiful. And with clothing now-a-days I'm sure people could survive...though they would have to wear several layers of clothing ofc...haha

That's there own fault, they deserve nothing less than death.
That is something I will HAVE to disagree with. Were you perfectly capable of supporting yourself straight out of high school? If so, congrats...but my guess is "No."
They are young, naive, this does not mean they should await trial by sword...they may just need more time to adapt. They still have a long life ahead of them (what with the 79.5 average lifespan stated earlier). They could still support themselves in the long run, maybe they are just not ready straight out of high school? (18-19 years old)
