eh..you can't technically discredit a theory if you havent ever found a solution now can you ? its just not popular anymore thats it...

This brings up a useful distinction. It's still a theory (hypothesis/guess + good idea), not a law (hypothesis + good idea + confirmation). At the moment, in theoretical physics, it's a major "contender" for explaining the origin of the universe, and in basic astromony it's still the prevailing theory. So basically if you had to place a wager, betting on the Big Bang would be the current thing to do, but physics can change a lot in a decade.

The way God plays into this Big Bang Theory is the simple question:

There's nothing.
There's still nothing.
then BANG. Ladies and gentlemen, the universe.

What (Who) made that bang? How can you start with nothing and then have something?

You are making an assumption that there was nothing

There's nothing
There's still nothing
then Bang. Ladies and gentlemen, god.

What was there before the Big Bang?
And what was that something's origins?

I don't know, but I'm not arrogant enough to make a claim that is (near) impossible to support.

It could have been a universe that contracted into the singularity associated with the big bang that is part of a cycle that has been going on since the start of time. The big bang could have been the start of time as we know it and the matter has always been. You can just as easily claim that matter has always been just like many claim for god. Either way it is an assumption that you can't prove.

You're assuming it had a start...I'm sure there are so many things that are beyond our perception and understanding, out of the scope of science as we know it today...
Hinduism for example states the universe has no beggining or end.

I don't claim to know anything more than you do. I was merely making though-provoking questions on the origin of the universe.
