Travelling in space is detrimental on the body to begin with, then having to live in artificial environment would get pretty dull after a while. Living your whole life there, exactly what would the point be? Unless you are a scientist.

I do not understand the appeal of space, at least not without technology that is far superior to what we currently have. We live on a planet which when compared to what we know about the universe, is an astonishing marvel, it does not get any better than this.

it was like that when we first started exploring the earth. would he head out with limited supplies in search of land to start a new colony etc space jsut alot bigger but concept still the same.some people like the challenge and adventure.

The concept may be the same relating to human nature, but it not the same in practicality. It might seem incredibly amazing and exciting to head into space, or the idea of it, but in reality as I said it is incredibly hostile and dangerous, and there is really not that much there.

Do not get me wrong, the universe, our ability to understand and observe it is incredible, the perspective it grants us, but this is contrary to actually exploring it, and as it stands our current technology sucks; maybe a different story in a couple of centuries.

its the same in practicality imo as we sailed out on treacherous seas in nothing but wooden ships some didnt even have lower decks at the beginning it was very dangerous exploring the earth not knowing its geography and weather patterns etc thousands of lives were lost amongst dozens of expeditions. our technology atm is primitive in comparison to science fiction but it is still worthy of space travel we have actually made many breakthroughs lately. i doubt space travel would be as dangerous as you think. we would need to construct a massive ship the size of a small town if not bigger, generations would live and die on this thing but the size of it would allow us to install weapons satellites etc would be quite safe. with our current tech we can easily map a trajectory to a solar system and head out.
