Removal is at a break after they managed to damage a power cable for the cooling system
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-02-25/fukushima-nuclear-fuel-removal-suspended-after-cooling-failure.html
Still they have not published new numbers on how much fuel is removed.

interesting that a really minor event gets that much notice while there is no running total of removed fuel rod posted daiy or weekly,
the latest i could find is from mid january

Can you please describe a material that does not produce x-rays when bombarded with beta particles?

based on the comments from tepco themselves one can make an educated guess and assume that the shielding material they use is not the most efficient

I don't know what to say. My question was a trick question. It would require the violation of the conservation of energy...

it's a question of absorption for the purpose of storage and that is what i was referring to in post#27 - we were talking cross purpose it seems ;)

now i'm really confused. in post 47 Hell Knight seemed to imply they should have use a material that does not produce x-rays when hit by radiation. My point is there is no such material.

his key point was related to the increased radiation reported
there are several (potential) explanations for his comment:
1. not fully understanding the issue
2. poorly expressed his point (he is not a native english speaker)
3. if you look at his profile, he is 'bavarian' the equivalent to 'hillbilly' in germany :D

btw, i misquoted the post-number above (read the 27 in the date) meant post#51

where else but in munich (and that village built near a monastery is the most cosmopolitan place in bavaria ;) ) do "stockpisser" exist?
not sure if we should explain what it means :P

but when it comes to comparing states, bavaria would likely match texas
under total control of the csu (the most right wing of the established parties) since ever
and considering everyone (even the chinese) who is not a bavarian a prussian :D
