This is true, but refer to Occam's razor for my retort.

That's true, but if there truly is no inherent purpose to the universe, wouldn't it ironically be more enjoyable to give it purpose? Since after all, there would be no such thing as a "waste of time" because there's nothing more important to accomplish.

On a grand scale, that is.

Yea why?
Why is there anything at all?.. who cares about how it all started if theres not even a reason for it to exist?
Or is there?

Does God know where he came from?

God equals Time equals space equals Universe ramble de endless loop. idk man i dont have a clue. guess thats why i have faith i believe in a higher power... the big bang theory is laughable like how athiest think god is a joke.

you know its possible that the big bang theory is correct and that god still exists.... they are not mutually exclusive...
Personally, I'm betting my chips on god not existing, but that's because I'm a skeptic. So I'm much more likely to make a Type II error than a Type I.

without a universe this question would never be asked.

this question might be the sole reason there is one.

and now when it has been asked the universe feels no need to stick around.

and concering budweiser420s post that "the big bang theory is laughable" well so far its the best idea we have.

we can see with telescopes that the universe is expanding in all directions from where we are if time was reversed we would see all galaxies and so on come closer together, this means that if we move so far backwards in time as possible everything in the universe would be smaller then a grain of sand at one point.

so we have some indications of a big bang.

if a big bang happened and matter and anti matter was created/released in large quantities they would collide and take out eachother leaving nothing but pure energy as electromagnetic energy to disperse through the universe, we can actually even see this as the "background radiation" in the universe wich still strengthens the theory of a big bang occuring.

on the topic of god i would say that i dont belive in it, ive read the bible and it just makes no sense, an all loving god and all he does is kill and hurt.... really. the number of contradictions in the bible is just obscene.
if you ever read a novel with the same number of contradictions you would say it is nothing but complete crap and possibly the worst book you have ever read.

i can admit its written in a beautiful way but that doesnt say much about its authenticity.

on the topic of any gods existing i would say not likely but certainly not impossible.

Imo people allway talk about bible thumpers as close minded people yet if you truly read the bible with an open mindset the spirit will come through and touch your soul in a way that is divine, Adam an eve eat from the tree of knowledge Good an Evil why we live in a world of pain/hurt unthinkable things happen because of this. God gave us all freewill to decide are fate God doesnt want someone pushed on him he want to receive you with open arms.

I read it with an open mind while I was Christian, and now I am an atheist. You're reading it with a closed mind and a pre-conceived notion that God Is Love, so you don't actually read what the words say. All the barbarism, misogyny, homophoboia, xenophobia, etc. is just ignored because it's inconvenient and contrary to your own internal set of morality.

I find in life as i get older people push there own problems on others you've put my thoughts on God into you're own words god gave us examples to better ourself. Of course the sceptic's will try to find flaws and demenezes people of faith.

Example: brothers tell me about someone finance problems and giving advice on how to fix it, well his own finance aren't in order.

That advice should be smashing him in the face.

Your thoughts on God involve ignoring the majority of the Bible so that you can find stuff that you agree with. There's nothing wrong with that since every religious person does it. But it's your internal morality driving it and not some divine inspiration.

I'm not demonizing anyone :P

Leviticus 11:9-12 says:
9 These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.
10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:
11 They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.
12 Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

Deuteronomy 14:9-10 says:
9 These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales shall ye eat:
10 And whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye may not eat; it is unclean unto you.

If you eat shrimp you're evil.

Just an example of the things christians conveniently forget to teach about the bible.
