These say absolutely nothing about the potential of the human brain. Did you even read them or did you just Google "brain waves" and happily paste two links that you thought probably supported your claim?
Ever hear of Snopes, the website famous for debunking myths?
http://www.snopes.com/science/stats/10percent.asp In this, they thoroughly explain why people think it's true, and assure you that you have no reason to believe it is.

your statement pretty much says it. If your in a state of fear or "survival mode" your brain instinctly stimulates the functioning of your brain stem and cuts off stimulation of the cerebral and areas of the brain related to intellectual thinking. So by getting rid of fear you increase your brains capacity to think through not being distracted by the flight or fight response. there are many examples including how music stimulates more synaptic firings between certain areas of the brain. have you seen the color MRI's that shows that certain areas of the brain are more active then others? i thought most people understood this concept and didnt think a study was needed to show that it is possible to raise our brain function.
Well duh, of course the brain makes more connections when it's used. It's similar to a muscle in that regard. Perhaps you think you're only using a small percentage of your potential brainpower, and based on a lot of your posts here I'm inclined to agree with you. Maybe you should start reading books and listening to some classical music so you can train your brain back up to a level where you can competently function in society? But no, the fact that thinking increases your brain activity does not mean we're not living up to our full mental potential. That's an illogical conclusion.
