I've been doing this without trying.

All of my recent lucid dreams have been false awakenings...so be sure to remember your reality checks as soon as you "wake up"!

# Looking at text or one's digital watch (remembering the words or the time), looking away, and looking back. The text or time will probably have changed randomly and radically at the second glance or contain strange letters and characters. (Analog watches do not usually change in dreams, while text and digital watches have a great tendency to do so.)[32] A digital watch or clock may feature strange characters or the numbers all out of order.
# Flipping a light switch. Light levels rarely change as a result of the switch flipping in dreams.[33]
# Looking into a mirror; in dreams, reflections from a mirror often appear to be blurred, distorted, incorrect, or frightening.[33]
# Looking at the ground beneath one's feet or at one's hands. If one does this within a dream the difference in appearance of the ground or one's hands from the normal waking state is often enough to alert the conscious to the dream state.[34]

I've tried it twice now, the first time was very morphy, and I could tell that the photoreceptors in my eyes were going haywire.
The second time was like a vague walking, going through a realm of some sort, but it still wasn't all too clear. I need to practise some more.

It's easy if you drink some coffee before you sleep.

Granted, you won't sleep as deeply as you would normally.

I have only done it 3 times but if you want to have some of the craziest dreams/lucid dreams, this is my method.

You get on a normal sleep schedule. And then you stay up until you get tired. And repeat this cycle, your dreams will be nuts and REM sleep will kick in right when you doze off. (It usually takes your body a while to trigger REM sleep.)

When you get tired, you go to sleep. Set an alarm to wake you up in a half hour. When you wake up you stay up for approximately 4 hours and then you go back to sleep and set your alarm again to wake you up again in a half hour.

Eventually what is going to happen after you do this for a while, is your body is not going to be happy and when you lay down, your body will overdrive into REM sleep and you can have some pretty gnar dreams.

Yes this is from the show Seinfeld where I got the idea and also looked it up.

It is called the Uberman sleep schedule or Polyphasic sleep.

The goal is to create your circadian clock to work this way without the alarm clock. Because the alarm clock is kind of bad as it will disrupt your sleep. So once you can trick your circadian rhythm into working this way without an alarm, you will have nothing but REM sleep and your dreams will be way more interesting. Also write in a dream diary at the same time and read it frequently and you will have lucid dreams. That is how I got it done.

Yeah, I have them basically every time. I also have ones where I think I woke up and those dreams can end up pretty crazy.

Basically I have found if you write in a dream journal and try to force your body into REM sleep, you have some crazy dreams.
