As far as I understood from what I've read (and I did look around, I like to see a few sides before I decide where I stand) the people who did the math used known cosmic events (the same ones used as the basis for the LHC experiment) and did studies as well as all their crazy physics tests, and were able to actually predict the outcome. They said the chances of these micro black holes manifesting were virtually nil to begin with, but if they did, they would not even be detectable on most levels, let alone harmful.

One thing that stuck in my mind, though it's pure speculation, was that because we know so little about the sub-molecular level's physics, (quantum physics, in other words) that there could be mass amounts of these micro black holes constantly around us at all times. Following my train of thought here, just as a purely fyi tidbit, most of our universe is actually made up of "space"...that is, in terms we can grasp, the distance between two electron levels in a single atom would be akin to 20km or more!

Of course of course, but what good is knowing the distance between two atoms or two electrons, when a rather large percentage of people do not even know how to read a map!

like i said, i was simply following my train of thought at the time and it was just a fun fact :D

i think we just need to be more conservative with what we have

we need to do simple things like reuse and recycle, and i think things like bottled water are just worthless companies (except for supplying jobs)
i mean what is wrong with tap water, you dont need to drink it out of a plastic bottle. your also saving money, its like a win win situation.

i took an ecology course last semester and u would be surprised at what some products and things we are doing effect our environment
like what we have done to animals and ecosystems, some animals are nearly extinct and other habitats have been greatly affected just by dumb things like people throwing and dumping things into water because they dont feel the need to get rid of it properly

basically, i just feel like we need to crack down on the simple things are enforce problems more than we do

i completely agree, and following that statement we should up the littering taxes to an outragous amount to enforce the law of not littering
i also beleive that we should stop making cars that get less that 17 mpg, such as a hummer
also, every1 should really start to depend upon natrual gases

I hate to say this too...
But what good are people once they're out of "working age"

All they do is require time and money.

I love my grandparents as much as the next person, and a lot of people WILL disagree with this, but euthanasia might be a step we need to take the in future..especially if population becomes an even greater issue.

thats awful

back then, they became elders and teachers and leaders....
also their children and grandchildren would ask them for stories
and thats how oral tradition was formed
and without oral tradition we would know a fraction of what we know now about ancient civilizations

I'm not afraid, it's just if I had to go out, I wouldn't want it to be because of some asshole scientist trying to play god.

Why does it matter how you'll die, in the end you'll be dead anyway, right? At least you won't be tortured before death, if anything, you're getting it good.

Instead of the government feedings money to pointless causes, we should focus more on the development of natural energy sources..

Like using hydrogen or even good ole h2o to fuel cars and other transportation or devices.

I know its awful. I'm just saying it MIGHT come to that.

The health care bill that the U.S government is trying to pass right now, will basically do a surgery on a young healthy person, rather than spend the money to prescribe some cough medicine for an elder person.
Want to know why? Because in the long wrong they'll get more taxes out of the young person than the older person.

It's terrible, but that's what's happening RIGHT NOW in some European countries.

granted this is very true, but with modern technology the way it is....think about it. what DO they contribute? the most i can suggest is the odd one that becomes an instructor of some kind, and the majority that take up the small, albeit much needed oddjobs in our society. Really, what we should do is have preteens/teens doing these jobs, preparing them for the working world. perhaps integrate this into school somehow, as a job skills course or something.

So? They have to earn the right to live, it's not something given to you and isn't something that should be upheld by others.
