I keep forgetting you think Science is magical and if Nasa says it you'll buy into it 100%. Do you know that if the satellite is traveling at 25,000 mph and it travels at 1 mph over that speed in 2 years it will overshoot that comet by 17, 200 miles

how does an object traveling in space slow down or speed up to make traveling these distance pinpoint accurate over time without a pilot - magic right?

whos claiming anything to be pinpoint? the thread you are posting in is proof that all the planning in the world can end up botched on the other end.

the asteroid is only a km big - considering the distance we need to travel to reach it and that an error of going 1 mph more or less in a 17,000 miles over or undershoot would result in , being within 500 feet is pretty goddamn pinpoint considering the object is trillions of feet away. If you took a stack of hay and compared it to a pinpoint - its pretty much the same. Satellites can steer and speed up, slow down, do vertical landing, do impossible things according to physics cause its space right?- all makes sense 100%, right? Are ships can go though the Van Allen radiation belt which would fry all electronics because are ships are made with 1/4 inch aluminium and that shields from high radiation right? Astronauts can photograph impossible light with perfect exposure on very complicated cameras with no viewfinder. no bracketing, and still get perfect focus all while wearing space gauntlets in 200 degree F temperatures, right? Pictures that show different lens lengths were used can be explained because Astronauts carried multiple lenses right? Two focal points on the same picture is possible in space right?
