more like 5 million years probably lol maybe even more. i wonder with the universe ever expanding do the planets/galaxies expand with it? if so you might never reach your destination unless you can travel faster than that.

Galaxies stay intact due to gravity but they move apart from each other. So the planets and such in a galaxy remian at the same distance but relative to other galaxies the distance fluctuates.

makes sense. so theoretically no matter how fast we can travel reaching another galaxy is impossible

They move around 150,00-200,000 mph lol. So we would have to travel faster then those speeds.

yea. i somehow thought they would be expanding much faster than that

They were. First few seconds of big bang they were like 90% speed of light (not sure exactly if that's accurate but you get what I mean). Though over time, Gravity slowed it down to current speeds.

was much faster than that. at first they thought it was slowing down but that changed when they discovered it was actually accelerating faster. universe will eventually fly itself apart and all that will remain is gonna be blackholes and few blue dwarf stars.

Black holes eventually radiate out, means probably just dwarf stars and rocky planets.

Didn't know it was accelerating. Good to know.

Problem with Mars colonization is the lack of a magnetic field on the planet, so it's constantly being hit by radiation and other nasty shit from the sun. Creating a large magnetic field will probably be the hardest part

We could send a bucket of bar magnets with each person and they could eat them for magnetic shield
