this test is rubbish. just cross everything that is bad for society at large and you get a high score.

there are more reliable tests.

functionam mri scans for example. testing emotional activity while emphathy producing pictures are shown.

Must be awesome, agree; emphathy the point for the few i know, but my psychology knowledge is pretty low :)
Any informations about the differents levels of emphathy etc ?

HI Saucisson

whenever you read the literature about psychopaths you will realize that the core characteristic of psychopaths is a lack of empathy.
every diagnostic manual includes the lack of empathy.

however the truth is psychopaths have much more empathy as well as much less empathy compared to the average population. how to make sense of that?

there is warm, affective empathy and there is cold/cognitive empathy.

psychopaths have much more developed sense of cold empathy. they have a good hunting instinct, they can sometimes realize just by the way a person is walking whether they have been abused in the past or whether they could be potential victims in the future. they know how a person thinks, feels and why they feel the way they do but they simply don't give a shit.

there is a study that shows that psychopaths can recognize potential victims much better than average people by just looking at the way they walk.

warm empathy is about caring. if you see someone puting a needle in somebodies eyes you get this awkward feeling in your stomach. this is warm empathy or sympathy. this is what psychopaths do not have or do not choose to use.

warm empathy however is selfish and egoistic. why? if you aren't a psychopath and have a well developed sense of empathy, if you see someone suffering your brain activity lights up in the same areas as if you were suffering yourself. basically you are afraid about yourself not too much about the other person.

there aren't many psychopaths on this forum (exception marvin) they just suffer from anti-social personality disorder and sooner or later get scammer tagged because they make stupid mistakes.

people with anti-social personality disorder are usually the ones who get blamed for everything, usually more than they actually did, especially by psychopaths. Everyone sees them in a bad light. Psychopaths that do not at all give a shit about anybody, sometimes not even about themselves usually never get blamed with anything. they get away much more often and when their surounding is asked everyone refers to them as decent, respectable, responsible and honest straight forward people. they are very skilled in manipulating almost everybody.

highest psychopathic scores from almost all professions that exist are found among: lawyers, police, surgeons, CEO's lowest among nurses, caregivers.

the amount you know about psychopathic behavior is possibly more scary than the facts themselves :p (super interesting though)

y was a mistake.
to me it is sympathy. if you are into words and concepts you probably can argue that there is a difference.

im a clinical psychologist and doing my Ph.D on psychopathy.

the people who know a lot about psychopathy can usually be classified into three groups:

1. psychopaths
2. victims of psychopaths
3. people who are fascinated with the topic.

I'm neither a psychopath nor a victim. Even though I get almost the highest scores on the tests, have similar thought patterns, desires of psychopaths, and have almost all character traits of them I miss their core character trait, I am not coldblooded and I will never act on my thought patterns/ideas because it would stress me out to inflict suffering.

You can play hardball with the best of them! You know what you want and are not afraid to go for it – even if it means bending the rules occasionally and putting a few noses out of joint on the way. Nothing fazes you. You are decisive, self-confident and pretty much up for anything. You are a ‘means-to-an-end’ person. For you, it’s not necessarily a matter of right or wrong, but of what gets the job done. ‘Bring it on’ is your mantra, but to help those around you keep their heads, you should learn some tricks to help you temper your self-satisfying tendencies...
