I agree with this. The universe is expanding but as long as physical mass "holds its weight" so to say, Gravity will maintain its grip and nothing will fall apart within the existence of humanity that is. Who gives a crap if the moon moves an inch away from earth over millions or billions of years. Odds are it will remain locked in orbit around earth up until the point that our son dies. At that point it will first expand out, "fry us" as was stated by the op, and then collapse on itself. At this point it won't even matter because there is a chance will we collide with the Andromeda Galaxy before then anyway and might be flung into inter stellar space and the earth will freeze to death.

Yes I am getting off topic but there is a point to be made here. WHO GIVES A SHIT! This is why I study Astronomy but take little to know interest in Astrophysics other than the basics of what I need to know. Trying to understand the galaxies and the Universe is so beyond our pathetic little organic brains. Evolve first then come back and pretend we know something more other than Theories created by animals with an agenda.

o ok :D i didnt read the whole article..

but the distance has been measured way before that.. im sure that that was just a way of establishing a routine measurement process

True I am not arguing that. Data is proof and that is half of the scientific method at work so there is no discrediting it. I am simply stating the obvious fact that we know shit about how the universe interacts with itself. Thats why Physics only has theories and we have very few cold hard facts that we have proven without a doubt about the universe. Astrophysics is the same thing as religion in my opinion. You have to have a little faith and believe that the few details we can observe in theory make up the greater image that we see.

well if this is the case then nothing matters because were all gonna fry or freeze...
why not live a life of anarchy, chaos and greed?

theories arent the same as religion... unless you get into string theory and dark matter. <_<
but none of us are astrophysicists.

Youre not saying anything at all bro.

So when was it measured?

Hehehe good point. I like to think that we do not resort to anarchy and chaos because we have evolved. I am just saying we have not gone far enough in evolution to off set the dark places our imagination takes us. Same reason why I dislike organized religion. But yea, None of us are Astrophysicist (No offense if any of you are) But I think they are just as blind as the rest of us as theories are always being over thrown by new ideas and supposed proof. I am just glad that most scientist (not counting theoretical physicist) have enough logic and interest in the true goal of science that they are willing to put aside any belief or theory at a moments notice when cold hard facts come to light.

Yes I know scientific theory takes facts we know and creates a mold to best fit what we do not fully understand by using the principles of what we do understand. I am not trying to put down solid theories and make them out to be hypothesis. I have more respect for the scientific method than that. I just have a hard time agreeing with science any more than I can agree with religion as you have to have faith regardless when it comes to physics and religion. I like to think we are not the smartest things out there and even tho we try hard and I admire that, I like to accept that we may never know these things that physics tries to understand. I have no hard feelings against physicist and I applaud them for there efforts in making sense out of the senseless. I am just very careful not to be indoctrinated by theories any more than religion all tho I feel Science has done far more to prove our existence than religion has. It is like a bumper sticker i saw the other day. " Do not understand science? try religion" That is so true to me anyway.

Have fun with the Yoga :) try not to break a leg hehehe.

Bro stop trolling, you said you were done but still you are here posting none sense.

Everyone knows the distance to the moon is measured DAILY as you can read on the very own links you posted, wtf are you talking about telling me its been measured many times?

What Im telling you is that SINCE THE FIRST TIME it was measured until now, the time that passed is NOTHING when you want to guess whats gonna happen in a billion of years.
