yes.. if aliens discover us before we discover them.. it means that they are way more intelligent and/or way more advanced technologically.
and if they come to earth, it can mean a few things
1. they want to destroy us all for our minerals
2. they want to make us sex slaves
3. they want to share their internet to make the ultimate internet
4. they are friendly and just want to make peace and learn our culture
if the scientists are right.. if our entire planet have been made off randomness and evolution, there a really really small chance that there intelligent aliens in our galaxy, maybe retarded insects.
look how many different animals insects and plants there on earth.. and we are, humans, the only species to had developped conciousness.
technology depends on resources. and if the aliens have a earth like us, even if they were more intelligent than us, they would learn the technology faster (exept if they can breath in space or are invicibles or something like that) but wont have a enough better technology to come at us
if their planet is really far away from our planet, I dont think its possible to travel at the speed of light if not much faster, even millions of years later, humans will never be able to, because our technology is limited, to travel that fast
