Thats part of the understanding of perspective, but this effect called foreshortening applies more to things on your same plane and as things are further away from your horizontal plane - the effect is greatly decreased.
Now look at the photo:the top one is a 2d side view drawing of the completely flat floors and ceiling.
The bottom is how we optically see it - the floor is not raising up, the ceiling is not really falling down - but that is the way we see it
Do you think the ceiling is setting? Do you think the floor is raising up?
you can't use the same geometry for each as interchangeable - they are not related
