A black hole is just an extremely dense piece of matter.

Do you think that somehow that matter is different than other matter in the universe, and that it has some sort of magical property?

Well actually it is much different. The "gravity" of such a dense concentration has some pretty intense effects.
Physics as we know it on earth do not apply in certain situations involving intense gravity, and near light speed traveling.
So while the properties are not "magical", the natural properties of black holes are very different than those of say, grapefruit or even enormous planets.

well its so dense it became a different type of matter, just like a solid becoming a super solid.
i dont know if the word magic should be used sense houdini wasnt hung upside down from a black hole and tried getten out of a straight jacket.

just as much as stating 1+1=1+2=1+3=1+4=3, you would be partially right as well  :)

never realized math has a delineating variation of rightness.
where as a theory is subject to change as more facts emerge.

and wouldnt the answer be 3.5?

Pathetic; to say the least.
