did we not guess it was there without the test soo math could of done samething? either Hawkings not doing his home work or he is just adding too the noise of it being great discovery..soo the question is what else did it acomplish but prove what they worked out already?

the machine there for is something else our government can not be so stuped?

Math predicted its existence, and now the LHC seems to have found it. The same thing happened with Anti-matter. It was predicted by Paul Dirac (there were additional valid solutions to the Dirac equations) and they were found a few years later in cloud chambers by Carl David Anderson. Both physicists won Nobel prizes for their work.

Yes, but the special thing about the Higgs Boson is that it's spin is specifically 0.

verifying predictions empirically is as important as making them...
