There is no way to determine if aliens are out there until we have explored every single part of the universe. No way to prove you go to heaven until you die. So in short we have to explore the whole univers and bring people back from the dead and they can explain what exactly happened. :) Its going to be a long time before we know either one FOR SURE.

We don't have to explore the entire universe. How do you know there couldnt be life quite close to us?

this is old and still controversial, the media hyped that thing so much

it is not for sure known if they incorporate arsenic instead of phosphorus in their metabolism, the only thing known for sure is that they resist abnormally high concentrations of arsenic, which is toxic to almost all other life forms
