I do agree with your point, but I would just like to point out to you that the scientific definition of intelligent life is an organism that is capable of calculating difference and making desicions based on sensory or memory calculations. It doesn't require them to be flying about in space ships, shooting anti-matter weapons. could simply be a lizard-like creature or a multicelled small fish or something. finding an technologically evolved species would actually be very dangerous, because they would use any and all means to destroy the "threat" just think about how we would respond to "aliens" coming to Earth..

Yes, but that is OUR definition of intelligence. We say we are intelligent, who knows maybe we are not even close? I don't know haha, just rambling.

Over 9000 miles from our galaxy.

If the universe / multiverse is as big as we think it is, the chances of us being alone is WAY WAY WAY smaller than the chances of some other intelligent lifeforms are trolling out there..

The chances of us EVER having contact with them are VERY VERY VERY small..

/e don't remember the exact numbers

and btw @ ur sig.. SHE IS NOT

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but there are sooooo many other solar systems, cluster galaxies and full formed galaxies out there that I think it is kinda closed-minded to think that Earth is the 1 and only place that life exists.. It may be the only place NEAR us, or the only place that we ever have to worry about, but the vastness of space and the universe and the fact that with nature, there are no "flukes" everything has a purpose and everything has definition. There is other life out there, however far away, intelligent @ this point in time or not they are out there.. Hell look @ Gliese 581 c that is a planet just 20 light-years away that is considered Earth-like and judged as a place of possible inhabitability. Now is it "just" like Earth, no. But the important thing is that the planets condition and relationship to its star is correct for supporting life.

So, you know the odds of life forming? Please share. Those two statements are completely false. For them to be made we would have to know the odds...

even with a 1/1m chance of life evolving on a planet, there would be BILLIONS and BILLIONS of planets with some kind of life out there..
Since we only know our planet we might not even be able to detect or we might not even consider the things we find as "life".

And what if the odds of life forming or 1 / googolplex? Or Worse?

But if you believe in an infite universe, theres no doubt that theres a lot of life out there.

If you believe the universe is infinite with an infinite amount of matter, well I guess you could make those statements. But I'm pretty sure the popular theory is that the universe is finite. If you believe the Big Bang theory then the universe has a finite amount of matter.

Its all about opinion at this point. Personally, I do believe that there is other intelligent life out there, but you cannot make a statement about the odds.

The chances of us being alone in the universe are smaller than the chances of Michael Jackson riding a unicorn over a rainbow. So yes, they must exist.

Dunno. No opinion on this.
