The first time it took me like 5-10 minutes of straight staring.

Try saying "Left," too.

It bugged the shit out of me, that's why I forced myself to be able to see it.  I don't like the idea of my brain locking me into a specific perspective.

Again - it only appears that way.  Her shoulders act in precisely the opposite direction if you're seeing her as spinning left.

I swear to you, I've seen it with my eyes, it's absolutely 100% mirrored movement from the right spin.

just got it to spin to the left, my first impression was spinning to the right. i looked down to see shadow of legs and it flipped for me. never seen an illusion like that

But her head and shoulders never change, and nether does the direction that she is spinning, so she can not possibly be spinning in 2 directions
I believe that the illusion is that she is spinning both ways and the answer is that she is spinning right

My evidence supports me on that

Edit: try this, change each frame into a individual picture and look what direction she is moving on every frame, it comes out as moving right on every frame

They do change. Slowing down the illusion doesn't make it any less of an illusion.

TidsL and a neurologist now agree with this. Her shoulders aren't moving in either direction - they are moving in a fashion which gives the illusion of moving in a direction when interpreted by the mind.

do the spinning motion yourself and follow your right and left shoulders, you will find that when you follow your right shoulder you do what she does and when you follow ur left you do not do the same thing. (it would work better if you had someone else do the spinning and compare them irt to the picture)

Edit: Well guys i rlly gota go so l8er, ill check this thread out probable at 8. Remember im not 100% sure that im right i just think i am so i accept the fact that i might be wrong, but i havent seen enough evidence opposing me yet so if you think im wrong and actualy have a reason why plz do post) (*cough* *cough* macfinn gtfo *cough* *cough*)

Allright the easiest way (I think) to make it look like she's changing direction is to watch the shadow of her foot and leg, try that when you get back.

K guys ima kill this argument and prove myself right

I just made a gif of a stick figure turning right and a gif of a stick figure turning left...

Left---------------------Original pic-----------------Right

You can tell the direction the stick figures are going because on the stick figure titles Left his left arm is red and on the stick figure titled Right his right arm is red.

As you compare the original pic to the 2 i just made you notice that it only follows the stick figure titled right
About the whole watching her feet thing the same principle could be applied as her arms, its just harder to see because her RIGHT LEG (take note right leg) is extended, therefor she also follows her right leg.
Aka she moves right, after doing this test i am 110% sure.

Those of you who still debate me need to get there eyes check or make better gifs then me that prove me wrong...
Having essentially made a crappy version of that picture i can say i understand how she moves and as i stated earlier because the posture of her body never changes she CAN NOT spin 2 directions at the same time, just not possible, the end there. how ppl say she moves to the left and the right is beyond me, i can understand thinking she moves left but both directions plain and simple just not possible.

If you discredit the gifs i made then you need to make your own b4 you complain to me about them...
If you still think she moves any direction then right then idk what to say...

You are just still incapable of realizing the optical illusion.

You only see one of the two aspects of the illusion.

It takes a long time, but try what I said - chant the word "Left" and spin your fingers to the left and just stare at the pic for a long time. It might take a while, but you'll see what we're saying and it will blow your mind.

I can see it moving right just fine. But if I follow the above tricks, I can see her spinning left, too. Completely left. A perfect match for your 'left' animated gif, in point of fact.

You are convinced it's not there, so you can't see it. But once you do, I swear, you'll be amazed at how stubborn you were.

My default perspective is left. I haven't seen it right, and I'm not wasting anymore time trying. I've seen this exact same illusion before but bigger. I saw it both ways then.

So the graphic i made spining right just happens to spin the same way because?
The illusion is that it can spin both ways and the reality is that it only spins right, btw ur calling me stubborn but im the only one that has real evidence here, i also built a gif of the stick figure moving left and it does NOT look anything like the picture.
I CAN see why people say it turns left but i cannot agree that it actually turns left so ill say it one more time...
the ILLUSION is that it can turn left, and the REALITY is that it only turns right.

I would trust the guy that can actually make a gif do the same thing as the original picture, wouldn't you?

Edit: I would also like to add that one of my many hobbies is messing around with hex code and a very important part of that for any 3d game is being able to tell wtf is going on with an image like this. When you can make successful changes to hex code (specific to vertex editing, other hex modifications dont rlly matter on this topic lol) with or without programs made to help noobs out (most of the time i go w/o) then i would admit your 50 cents is on an equal level as mine... not to mention on a computer science major in college...

...Sigh... i bet you people believe that global warming is fake...

Edit again:

In other words you just admitted she only turns right but the ILLUSION makes it look like she turns left... simple logic it may look like she turns left but she only turns right aka im right... not stubborn...
