No, the universe is expanding, as in the distance between the objects is increasing, the universe does not expand into a preexisting space.

Possibly within, beside, or some place else infinite universes.

assuming this is a comparison to it, what relation does atheism have to the big bang? atheism is the lack of belief in a deity, it has no relation to the affirmative belief in any specific theory. the big bang is only the most current or scientifically credited explanation of the "creation" of the universe(assuming the non existence of multi verses). it is not a belief of atheists(though many atheists support it), as atheism is the lack of belief, not a belief itself

No. You will always require atoms to create substances.

Considering that we are talking about "nothing", nothing is now something since we've thought about it.

Whether nothing is just a thought of itself it is still something.
