star nurseries are like galaxy sized chucks of largely hydrogen and helium gas. after millions of years gravity attracts the gas together until theres solar system size clouds of the stuff, and eventually forms a disk of gas circling about a center. when the center is massive enough the heat and pressure begin fusion and a star is born. blackholes dont form in here without the collapse of a star because they start fusion much earlier than they have the time to grow large enough to collapse on itself. note that during this process, the star can begin fusion and still have a large disk of gas around it. so it can still grow much larger even after its ignited

this is an illistration of the center (the infant star) with gas circling about it

Essentially a star nursery is the physical reverse of a black hole? Instead of the neutron star being so dense and so tiny with such a gravitational force on the fabric of space time, the massive qualities of heat and pressure both fuse stars. Am I on the right track here?

The picture helped a lot, also do you believe that the universe is finite or infinite?

well... sort of. comparison-wise you are on the right track. however, nurseries are pretty much just galaxy size clouds of hydrogen and helium where stars form.

and i believe scientists have stated the universe is expanding, and therefore finite. however im not sure if its space time they say is expanding, or simply the matter that occupies the universe is getting farther apart and therefor expanding. though im not certain, i believe its the former case

all from hubble until the new badass t-scope is launched (2012 or something). the moon pic was taken from earth i assume, the earth pic probably taken from moon sometime in 70's (last time we visited).
