Until the acceleration dies out. We could still be on the outward force of the Big Bang and we just wouldn't know it yet. As far as we know, the Universe has not reached its final state of expansion before it could start to contract.

no, if the force of gravity pulling us together was greater than the initial explosion we would see us slowing down imediatly. since this is not the case, the initial explosion is greater than that of gravity. so unless another factor will come into play other than the force of gravity we will never stop accellerating

edit, this is also why this forum should be in pard. notice how quickly science and religion intertwined?

I was just going to say that.
The deceleration might not yet have started.

(LOL at word play. DE CELL (the removal of cells)
if the universe DE CELLerates, then we'd have a CELL liquidation on our hands laugh.gif

at least it started as a science topic smile.gif

How do you know for sure you'll die before reaching to center?

Wouldn't it be trippy if a black hole was a super funnel? Large enough on one side to suck us all in, but then small enough on the other to only pump out one organism?

uhm...
lingual problems are occuring xD
eehrm
a small black hole emits too much matter to last a higher amount of time
the tidal force near a 'large' black hole would be that high, that, for example your stomach is being accelerated more than your back, they wont stick together ^^

you'll die before you reach the center...

what irritates me is, that if all the matter once was located in a point or even a very small radius it must have been inside the event horizon of that amout of matter. regarding the general theory of relativity, an infinite amount of time has to pass before a remarkable process occurs there, such as expansion.
am i wrong? ohmy.gif

reach the center of what?

True, but now we've entered an entirely different subject area. Now we're more in the realm of dark matter theories.

But a possible explanation to the constant expansion is that we do now know if we would be sucked into the same, central point. If our expansion would only be halted once a black hole was big enough to affect the expansion, we reach a plausible answer. Just because we exploded form a central point does not mean we will have to return to that same point.

Religion is intertwining, I don't think it belongs here... way to easy for people to discredit science in the name of religion and vice versa. This forum should be purely scientific.
