I'll find the link  tomorrow, right now it's 6:20 am and i need my sleep.  I think it's the NASA, they're going to stretch and compress space around a single short stick first to see if the concept works as they estimate it would do in the simulation, this "simple" proof of concept is still like a decade away of being completed though.  there's also other problems like some heat that would melt the ship as you re-enter space outside your warp bubble. ...

here you go, and have a good day!

good luck gathering the negative mass material and then accelerating it faster than the speed of light. The problem is recursive, to make something travel faster than light, you need something that travels faster than light...

I think it kinda got derailed lol, i know there's massive obstacles, but i just wanted to see what kins of energy aliens would have at their disposal if they really could get over here.

the reality is, there is no hard absolute minimum energy requirement to reach another star system. All you need is a source of propulsion and time. By far the most expensive part (energy wise) is lifting that stuff into a orbit above the Earth's atmosphere. There have been satellites and probe launched with ion drives that consume less than 1500 w (about the amount of power that comes out of a normal wall socket).

I think the energy requirements to bend space, and the requirements for an ion drive, might be slightly different

There will be no alien invasion....once we or they done poluting this world...they will move on.....according to the bible, a few will be took by jesus and his aliens or angels....what ever word you like....

The only truth is the one you wish to believe .......100-200 years of tech we are looking at.....you cant imagine 1m-2milion years advanced technology

was watching on the science channel, how we could give aliens idea's with star trek show's....We still think we so smart if aliens out there with million year old technology. We not going give them any idea's lol....They look at us like we look at trained monkeys..

if you want believe in aliens or angel's...what ever word you like best.if a bad alien we call them demons...

the history we have points to aliens mixed with a religion for our understanding....if you want believe anything writen 2 thousand years ago, or longer...

You are right the only possibility to really be faster then light would theoretically be an imaginary mass, but there is no prove that tachyons exist...

But what StephanePare probably meant is, that there is a possiblility in general relativity where you can bend the spacetime around you, so that u can create some sort of bubble in spacetime, which then can travel faster as light. While you yourself in the bubble do not travel faster as light with respect to your own spacetime and for that reason could travel faster as light without traveling faster as light... But its just some theoretical idea, which was calculated to be theoretically possible, but would need crazy amounts of energy...

Think about in the future (like 10,000+) years if we develop technology to have a team of people travel outside our solar system, and lets say we find life on a distance planet. Not life like ours lets say, but imagine what earth was 25 million years ago. I think we would be overwhelmingly excited and not try to wipe out the planet, but like someone said earlier, be like National Geographic and behave like a scientist, just observe.

And if they do want to wipe us out for any reason, we wont be able to do anything except pray. God will save us ;)

I think if they greys wanted to harm they would have or if they wanted to take our resources they would have. I dont think they would be hostile. Guessing they would have better more advanced tech then especially if they could make it to earth. We can see very far into space and we haven't seen life out there which means they def would have some amazing traveling technology. Science also says that what we see in space is moving away from us so this means they might have to travel even further. If they were hostile they probably have an upper hand but I think they would be friendly.
