seeing it as we know yea, but dont forget how ancient we can/most likely are compared to other civilizations in terms of technology
what I mean by this is, 5 thousand light years might seems a big distance for us, but perhaps not to some aliens
Im not saying we can travel faster than the speed of light (physically), I trully believe that would be impossible, not because of the speed itself the laws of physics but because of inumerous objects we would crash into if we travel at the speed of light through space, especially when going straight..
The acceleration to get to the speed of light as well as the deceleration would take you a long time (so your body wont break apart off G force), so stopping and changing direction due to every single little asteroid, planet, rocks, whatever.. wouldnt be that good, besides you had to kinda know whats coming and hit you.
Im talking about quantum mechanics and the whole undiscovered unknown world it encases.
