People back then just weren't lazy and had lots and lots of time on their hands probably just used crude methods to slowly make it.

why is it such an amazing thing? chances are you've lost something in your home you still haven't found so why on a planetary scale do you find that something being lost is interesting?

It's not the fact that they were "lost," the interesting aspect about it is why they left, or disappeared, and where they went that is intriguing to some.

for some but not the guy i quoted. he specifically pointed out he only cares about them being list without a trace.

the overall point is somethings won't ever be answered and wondering about a lost civilization that has little to no documentation is a waste of time. the only people that should bother wondering about it are the ones that actually go out and look for answers instead of just sitting around wondering.

Honestly, I have no idea what you're saying. People can't wonder about lost civilizations, except for the people that look for them? People have different interests. Just because you aren't interested in it, that doesn't mean it's useless. Also, if people didn't sit around and wonder, Einstein wouldn't have his theory of relativity; we wouldn't have physicists or philosophers.

Wondering is never a waste of time.

you're comparing apples and oranges. physicist have observable data in which to theorize about whereas people like the guy i quoted have almost no data and will sit around make baseless theories.

theorizing without any data is the single biggest waste of time there is. those people should either go out and look for more data or move on because it doesn't do anyone any good to sit around theorizing if they have no clue what they are talking about.

People had a fairly full schedule of, "try and survive the week."
