a keyboard?  durrrr?  and that the RIM folks (as terrible of a fate as they've met) have been doing this for years, so they're still way ahead of apple/google when it comes to designing a mail client that's fast and easy to use.  there are still so many things that the iphone/android, for all their glory, utterly fail at when it comes to basic *phone* functionality that the folks at RIM, Nokia, and Motorola have figured out a decade ago.

and no, the people I'm talking about aren't getting them as company issued.

oh this is great, considering the iphone is the epitomy of tech-stupid-people-friendliness.

(full disclosure: i use a galaxy nexus prime. it was free, and it fits my use case better than blackberries/iphones.)

so blackberry had a 10 year lead and now they are dinosaur phones. rim clearly knows what they are doing....

nokia and motorola have futures because they seen the need to get away from doing 1 stupid thing over and over with blackberries. rim however is going to fail because even their newest phones can barely be differentiated from their 5+year old phones.

and i use a samsung focus s. windows 7.5 gave windows phones a bright new future and i would take it over any android/iphone/blackberry on the market.

I'm making no claims about whether RIM knows what they're doing right now - particularly in terms of surviving in today's smartphone market - though the evidence suggests rather clearly that they're not doing very well.

My point is that even though they're doing 1 stupid thing over and over again, they're still the best at that, and so if someone's particular use case fits with that the most, then it'd be stupid to reject it on the basis that it's old. Stop treating technology as fashion, and look at the actual use cases instead.

i reject it on the basis its outdated, useless for much more than basic operation, tiny screens, problematic keyboards.

they would of already be off the market in north american if it wasn't for stupid businesses keeping them going. do you know why blackberry became useful for businesses? they catered to their needs pretty well when others didn't offer it. lost a phone with important company info? they wiped the data for you. this is common place service now and rim has lost any advantage over other platforms it had. free text service? apple has it. data wipes? common now.

people that can't move on or businesses that don't really care are the only ones that have a use for blackberry.

Get a iPhone 4s and jailbreak it. No other phone even competes with it. If you get an android your phone will be out-of-date In a weeks time.

and if y ou get an iphone they will release another one within a few month with pretty much the same specs.

Droid Razr all the way
