By being more protective we lose money and sacrifice our standards of living. We have to give up some things we enjoy.
By not being more protective, we lose an obscure species of catterpillars in a remote section of the Amazon jungle.

He obviously ignores the more severe possibilities and his response resembles trolling more than honest debate. The answer to my question is simple... jobs : everything

Unfortunately for the Amazon jungle that caterpillar was a keystone specie and with its extinction, several dozen other species followed suit.

Thus concluded the Amazon jungle via domino effects :(

If you are going to take the lack of protection to such an extreme that we lose everything, why not take the protection to an equal extreme?
We have to get rid of all cars, manufacturing, electricity, electronics, metals, plastics, etc. We basically have to revert to the stone age, because just about everything we use today hurts the environment in one way or another. All synthetics come from oil, drilling for which is an obvious issue. Smelting all metals is quite polluting too, so that's gone. The only really "clean" way of making energy is solar, since just about everything else has some impact on the environment. There's no way we can power even a fraction of our global needs with solar alone, so that's gone, not that it matters, since without plastics and metals electricity is pretty useless. Without synthetic clothing we'd need a lot more livestock for wool and leather, but that's a pretty serious greenhouse issue, so bye bye sheep and cows.
You are basically left with using rocks and running around naked. No fires, by the way, since cutting trees and burning them has a pretty obvious impact.

I think theres a big difference between what were doing now, and the situation you described. Earth does have a way of cleansing itself and Im sure there is a middle ground that can be reached where mother nature can take over.

I worry that not only global warming is happening, but that it will eventually lead to the end of all life on Earth.

Sound a bit alarmist? Certainly, but take a look at Venus.  It is proof of the existence of runaway global warming.

Next, take a look at factors here on Earth.  When permafrost melts, it releases large amounts of green house gasses, including large amounts of methane, which is much worse than carbon dioxide.  When foilage decomposes, it releases 30 years of stored carbon.  Im worried this and other factors might lead to a simular situation on Earth.

I dont know everything, but I do know that anything that has a beginning, has an end.  Our atmosphere didnt always support life, and one day it will cease to.  I know that our atmosphere is the only one we are aware of that can support life, so atmospheres maintaining this balance must be hard to come by, and be somewhat fragile.

Im no scientist so please ease my worries with facts.  And please before you begin with the trolling, take into account that I am not here as a know it all, merely someone looking to have my beliefs challenged.  thank you.

global warming is completely natural, we may be slightly slightly contributing, but if you look at the last 50,000 years the earths temp changes there was an ice age last and now the world is getting hotter

Its not completely natural for such polution and deforestation to occur though. Have you ever stopped to look at how many cars are on the road as you drive around? Have you ever tried to imagine this all over the country, and parts of the world? Then take into account manufacturing, farming, and it quickly becomes an overhwelming perception of our influence on a relatively small atmosphere.

global warming is a scam so the government can tax you and the rest of the lower/middle class on carbon and anything else that is bad for the environment.

not to confuse anyone humans absolutely are having a negative effect on the environment. we do nothing but pollute and destroy life with our consumerism.

the main reason why the earth is getting warmer is because of the activity going on with our sun. that and the fact governments are geo-engineering the weather without the public's knowledge and continuous destruction of the ozone layer with chemicals/radiation/etc.

there also huge amount of methane trapped at the bottom of the ocean , and thats on it way too

also melting snow helps melt more snow

so yes global warming is not a constant thing but a constantly increasing danger

and although the politians will tell you its a far way off - it will happen far faster than anyone will tell you

and people + companies will not change + the world is fuked and repulicans just want u to put your head in between your legs and never notice anything

here the republicans demonstate proper enviromental concern
