Even people with PhD's are capable of oversight, especially when you have multiple groups of people working collaboratively on separate parts of the problem. Each group could have thought the other was going to take the time dilation into effect and neither did it.
But like we said. Something that would shake the core of physics needs to be reproducible.
Yeah its definitely possible that they overlooked it and I'm all for the scientific method as well. Regardless of any controversy the experiment should definitely be reproducible or they didn't prove anything.
I was merely saying I think its unlikely that the problem, if any, was of such a simple nature.
