Missed this one before. No, there was no point of contention here. Special Relativity is a special case of General Relativity. It just means that the math simplifies a bit when you're near the speed of light and you can use very close approximations. It's similar to how you can use Newtonian Gravity in many cases because the math is simpler than using General Relativity even though we know Newtonian Gravity doesn't work in all cases.
