i'm not religious and i don't care what happens after death.

then obviously that is where you fail, because you fear it, along with all others that wish they could have immortality.
the want for immortality shows weakness and fear.

e/ and you just contradicted yourself, you think immortality would be free?
you WILL grief. with immortality because even though you live long. everyone else dies.

unless obama and socialism take over the world and give everything to everyone for free.
then i could see a probable cause in actually wanting immortality.

if you dont care, then why dodge it?
if its something that doesnt matter to you then why run away from it?
there is obvious discomfort in the thought of death. of not having the materialistic lifestyle you have now.
weakness. typical american. weak.

lol...you are so obvious with your religious bias. wanting immortality and having it just to have are very different things. i don't WANT to live forever anymore than i want to eat. i have to eat and i have to live its just human nature. trying to throw labels on nature to make it look wrong is hilarious.

exactly. someone from 1943 has no bearing on modern society so why bring it up?

do you believe that when you die, things just go into nothingness?

There's only one way to find out, and I'd rather not risk eternal nothingness and nonexistance.

And as for things to do, I think space exploration could tide everyone over for a long, long time :)

It's probably inevitable.
Either way, I'm sure there'd still be ways to die if you want

Yeah, all those enlightenment writers have absolutely no bearing on our society, right? Stating that something is irrelevant because it's old is ignorance at its finest. You completely missed the point, anyways.

"why be immortal if your time has no meaning". in the world we live in today everyone is easily able to advance themselves and society and many of them could do more given a longer lifespan. yes some people want to be immortal for selfish reasons but a great many would be extremely useful at advancing our society. even the everyday person is able to contribute to the bigger picture in some way. immortality would bring enlightenment and great opportunity and the only downside you could bring up is "some people wouldn't use it right".

thats why i laughed because in 1943 our society and the way we are connected to one another with the free flow of knowledge and understanding isn't even the stuff of dreams is the stuff no one could of even imagined.
