After many years studies in Science, Religious, Philosophy. I believe that our Universe it's a just a huge network server, we are all in this network, and as time pass we tie too many knots to each other and don't know how to be untie anymore. However your "PC" is remain at the same place it never change. And each "PC" has the function to become a network
sever too!

Yes, Life it's a MMO, but it's a very good opportunity to study networking while u are here. so u will gain true freedom and will not be lost again!

That was the stupidest thing I've ever heard. -_-

No it's not, it's a variant of a common idea.

am i the only one that thinks this idea is like... a precursor to mormonism?

i've seen a bunch of "atheists" subscribe to this theory, and they think when they die, they will wake up outside of the "matrix" and be some sort of super being.

personally, i think it's all speculative unfounded bullshit. I know what I know, and I'm not about to pretend to know this. There just isn't enough information to support this idea yet. Whether or not it's wrong I don't know, but it's a very religious ideology requiring an ignorant leap of faith.

the biggest problem I guess is that science attempts to explain this "matrix" so there's really no evidence supporting either side of the debate. Either way, this theory is NOT science

Depending on who you ask, it's actually possible that the universe functions sort of like that.

Think about it- if there is some fundamental point where you can have two different points in time or space with no points between the two, then you could represent the state of the universe at any given point as a really, really, really, really (etc), binary string with 0 representing a point in space being empty and 1 representing a point being occupied. The rules by which the state changes are the laws of physics with constants (such as the gravitational constant) being defined at the program's start with a (truly) random chance of legal state changes occurring each iteration. Basically, the universe very well may just be the most powerful computer ever.

Since we are using the word computer as an adjective to metaphorically describe the complex nature of the universe. Both man made words and concepts (computer and universe).
We observe the universe, and by natural physiological process we simply associate it with something we know (this is how our brain works). The universe itself is not a computer, even if you perceive it to function as one.
It is your brain that is the most powerful computer ever.

There is an episode of Through the Wormhole on this topic:

This is a very lucid and intellegent response to this conundrum

I doubt there could be a better way to sum it up than you have done here....
